Work release is both an alternative to prison for persons convicted of low-level felonies and a step-down transition between prison and freedom. Getting and keeping a job is required, as are turning most of the earnings over to HCCC and not leaving the locked facility without a pass to a pre-approved work- or health-related destination.  HCCC often refers residents in need of work appropriate clothing, laundry and other cleaning supplies, and/or personal hygiene products to MPNFP.
