Food and water are survival necessities. Work, weather, and school appropriate

clothing, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies are quality of life necessities.

So are dignity, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Financial insecurity makes it difficult if not

impossible to have all, some, or any of them.

Food pantries bridge the gap between staying alive and eating for health. Non-food

pantries eliminate having to choose between warm, clean clothes and a safe place to sleep.

Marilyn's Place Non-Food Pantry provides the tangible goods clients need when they

need them [mission], and restores the intangibles [vision] by making the experience look and feel as

much like "normal" shopping trip as possible - freedom of choice over what to buy, a variety

of brands, sizes, flavors, forms, etc. to choose from, a limited (voucher points) budget, and

the responsibility for balancing them [means].
